St. Stephen’s Is Hiring a Church Sexton and We Need Your Help!

The word "Sexton" and sacristan" both derive from the Medieval Latin word sacritanus meaning "custodian of sacred objects." A "Sexton" in the church is the officer charged with the responsibility of providing general property care and maintenance for all congregational facilities. This position will work to ensure the safety and security of the facility and the people who inhabit it. The person filling the position should be of good character, and willing to advance the ministry of the congregation by having a helpful attitude toward the members and staff. The person should be an active member of a Christian congregation, understanding the nature of Christian ministry. The person should also have a sense that this position is a ministry of the church, for and with the congregation, understanding that the duties of this position will enable members to carry out their calling to proclaim the gospel.

This is a 36 hour per week position that pays around $16 an hour.

April Love Offering: Relay For Life
At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds we raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer; just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! Love offering donations made in the month of April will go towards the fundraising efforts of the St. Stephen’s Relay for Life team. These donations will be used to purchase luminaries for our church members who are also survivors. If you would like to join the team or find out more please see Shannon Burnett.

St. Stephen’s will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 25th from 2 PM–7PM! Please consider giving the gift of life. Walk-ins are welcome, but it helps Shannon’s anxiety if people sign up ahead of time.
