ORGANIST ANNOUNCEMENT - Sunday January 28, 2018 our organist, Ruthie Brannen, will depart from the organ bench here at St. Stephen’s Church. We are deeply grateful for the gift of music Ruthie has shared with our St. Stephen’s Church family and we will always keep her close in our hearts and prayers. J.S. Bach once said “Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence”. We know that God will be with Ruthie as she leaves us, and we thank her for her ministry here among us.

Beginning Sunday February 4th, we welcome our new organist, Matthew (Matt) McCall, to our bench. Matt is a gifted organist who has worked at Mount Hermon Lutheran Church in West Columbia and Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill. He assisted with accompanying the Lexington County Choral Society, and he recently founded and co-directs the Magnolia Chamber Singers with Bailey Slice Parker.

Matt is a graduate of Presbyterian College and is currently working on his Masters of Choral Conducting at the University of South Carolina. He will be leaving his current position as organist at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian to join us. We welcome Matt to our St. Stephen’s family and look forward to making music with him here soon.

WE DID IT!! 164 INVESTMENT CARDS HAVE BEEN RETURNED! $10,000 has been given to our “Continuing the Journey” campaign! WOOHOO!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! If you didn’t get a chance to return you card, please still do so! It is a huge help as we plan for 2018.

Our Living Faith group will be collecting HUGS for the Homeless in January Everyone in the congregation is invited to donate some HUGS. HUGS are hats, underwear, gloves, and socks or scarves. HUGS can be put in the box outside the Men’s Classroom. These items will be taken to the homeless in Finlay Park on February 5th. Thank you for your generosity and love in clothing the needy in our area during this cold winter season.

Council has heard your concerns and has acquired security for Sunday mornings. We will have an officer at the church from 8 AM- 12:30 PM each Sunday to assist with street crossing, traffic control, and security.

Please be aware … After consulting with the officers that will be present on Sunday mornings, we have made the decision to limit entry points of the church and keep certain doors locked. Although the following doors have generally been unlocked on Sunday mornings, they will now be locked. Please use another entrance to come in.

• The back door between the gym and kitchen
• The doors that directly enter the Social Hall
• The single door by the circular drive (near the handicapped bathroom)
