Easter Eggstravaganza - 2008
On March 22, 2008, children ages 18 months to 4th grade and their parents gatered at St. Stephen's for an Easter Eggstravaganza! We started our morning with an Easter object lesson and then the kids headed to different areas for a HUGE Easter egg hunt. We wrapped up our morning with a delicious edible craft!

Good Time Travelers - Charleston 2008
On March 19 - 20, 2008, our lively bunch of Senior Adults, fondly known as the Good Time Travelers, loaded up the bus and headed to Charleston, SC. We had the pleasure of taking part in the 61st annual Festival of Houses & Gardens where we got to tour homes dating back to the 1700s. Other highlights of our trip were wonderful meals full of seafood, breakfast overlooking the bay and strolling around the market. |

J-CREW St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt
On March 16, 2008, our lively bunch of 3rd- 6th Grade children gathered together to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. They enjoyed a lunch of yummy pizza and cupcakes, played games together and split up in teams for a scavenger hunt! These spirited teams went around Lexington looking for items like a green car, green eggs and ham, and a real southern DEERE! |

WNL! Magic Show
On March 12, 2008, what a treat we all had as we welcomed Mr. Rick Benton, a talented magician to St. Stephen’s. Mr. Rick showed us everything from disappearing dots and color- changing handkerchiefs to a pot of water that never seemed to become empty, just like Christ’s love for us is everlasting. A wonderful time was had by all ages. |

Senior Adult Lunch
On March 12, 2008, our Senior Adult Group gathered together to help welcome spring our way! Following our Lenten service we enjoyed a wonderful meal of rotisserie chicken and a delicious array of side dishes and desserts. After the meal, we enjoyed a program led by Amy from Woodley's Garden Center where we learned about beautiful flowers and greenery that could survive our blazing Lexington heat. |

Junior High Retreat
On February 22 - 24, 2008, the Junior High Youth grabbed their winter coats and headed off on our annual ski retreat. We spent an exciting weekend together in the beautiful mountains of Banner Elk, NC, while we learned to be servants of Christ. Highlights of our trip were skiing, snowboarding, lots of food, and an abundance of laughter and morning devotions on the Blue Ridge Parkway. |

Senior High Ski Retreat
On February 8 10, 2008, the Senior High Youth packed up and headed north: to North Carolina that is! We spent our weekend nestled in the mountains in Banner Elk. We skied and snowboarded, fellowshipped, laughed until it hurt, ate lots and lots of delicious food, enjoyed gorgeous views and learned how we are called to be servants of Christ! |

Goodtime Travelers State House Trip
On February 11, 2008, the Good Time Travelers traveled back in time by visiting our South Carolina State House. This was an extra special tour led by our very own Tom and Marge Spears’ son Mike. We were privileged to see the Sword in the Senate Chamber, the Governor’s office and the Lieutenant Governor’s office, just to name a few of the exciting historical and political areas we visited. After that, we traveled to California Dreaming for a wonderful lunch together. |

All Saints Sunday
Sunday, November 4, 2007 was All Saints Sunday, a day on which we remember those who have passed from the church militant to the church triumphant. Wings of Worship, the Liturgical dance group, under the direction of Dina Davis, performed while the choir sang thier anthem "Be Praised, O God". Also during services Sunday several of our children received their first communion. |

Reformation Sunday/Homecoming
Sunday, October 28th was celebrated at St. Stephen's not only as Reformation Sunday, but also as Homcoming. The 10:00 AM Service was followed by a meal in the gym. The Men's Cooking Crew provided the meat and the congregation provided side dishes and desserts. |

Visiting Choir
Sunday, November 11, 2007 was a celebration of music at St. Stephen's. We welcomed the Charleston Southern University Concert Choir, a wonderfully talented group of young people, who shared their beautiful music with the congregation at our 11:00 AM service. Their music included "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal" (arr. Shaw/Parker), "Cantate Domino" David Brunner and "John Saw duh Numbuh" (Andre Thomas). We thank the choir, their director and pianist for their awe inspiring addition to our service. These photos depict their Welcome Breakfast and presence in our balcony. |

Trunk Or Treat!
Trunk or Treat was held at St. Stephen's Wednesday, October, 24, 2007. Because of the rain the festivities were held in the gym. Hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixins were served after which the children went from table to table for goodies. A good time was had by all. |

Blessing of The Animals
October 7, 2007 - Members and friends of the congregation gathered on the lawn with their pets - a gold fish, one brave feline, two horses, pictures of other less brave (or more cantankerours) pets (including a cockatiel and a turtle) and dogs of all sizes and breeds - to give public witness to their trust and thanksgiving for God's love, care and concern for all of creation. If you missed this opportunity to reaffirm and recommit ourselves to the responsibility God has given us for the stewardship and care of His creation, plan to attend next year. You won't regret it. |

Apple Pickin' Trip
Tuesday, September 11 - Our Senior Adults loaded the bus and headed to Hendersonville, NC for their annual Apple Pickin' good time at Stepp's Apple Orchard. Then it was on to J&S Cafeteria and a stop by the produce stand and the Dish Barn before the trip home. |

St. Stephen's Avalanche Ranch VBS A Huge Success!
Thanks to all our parents, volunteers, youth, and children for helping with our "Wild Ride Through God's Word" during Vacation Bible School this year! Each night we averaged 175 participants who learned more about God . . . how He is "Strong", "Real", "Awesome", "With Us", and "In Charge" through stories of the Old and New Testament! Wahoo!

Lutheridge Day Camp
Lutheridge Day Camp, a five-day program which enables children to experience a Christian camping environment with a unique blend of outdoor ministry and congregational ministry without having to stay overnight away from home, was held at St. Stephen's June 4 through June 8. Each day was filled with fun-filled activities including camp-style worship and Bible study, arts and crafts, music and songs, special events and field trips! Camp began at 9:00 am and ended at 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and ran from 9:00 am until 12:00 Noon on Firday.
On Thursday evening, June 7, a closing program was held with a meal and entertainment provided by the campers and counselors. It was a huge success with everyone enjoying a GREAT time.

Confirmation Pictures!
Confirmation marks the completion of the congregation's program of confirmation ministry, a period of instruction in the Christian faith as confessed in the teachings of the Lutheran church. Those who have completed this program are made members of the Church in Baptism and now desire to make a public profession of their faith and assume greater responsibility in the life of their Christian community and it's mission in the world.
Confirmation 2007 was held at St. Stephen’s on May 27, 2007, the Day of Pentecost. |

Celebration Sunday
To celebrate our new building and the beginning of our new capital campaign, Faithful Future, St. Stephen's held an all church dinner and program on Sunday, May 20th. We began with Sunday School at 9 am, followed by one worship service at 10 am and a wonderful meal cooked by our Men's Cookiing Crew.

Good Time Travelers - Overnight Trip To Savannah, GA
On Monday & Tuesday, April 23-24, the Good Time Travelers hit the road for an overnight trip to Savannah, Georgia. Highlights included dining at a restaurant owned by Paula Dean, a trolley tour, shopping in the historic district, and lunch at Uncle Bubba's Oyster House.

It has been voted the #1 Small Town in America and the Good Time Travelers wanted to check it out! The group enjoyed lunch downtown, shopping, and the 'Madison in May' Spring Tour of Homes.

Easter Eggstravganza 2007!
On Saturday, March 31st, we held our annual Easter event at St. Stephen's. We had a record of over 100 children plus proud parents and grandparents to participate. Events included a children's message, a jelly bean guessing contest, cookie decorating, coloring and, of course, an EASTER EGG HUNT with over 1,000 hidden eggs!

J-CREW St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt
"It's not easy being green!" ... and neither is looking for it! Our J-C.r.e.w 1/2 and 3/4 competed in our annual St. Patrick's Scavenger Hunt where we looked all over Lexington for green. Whether is was a picture with a green tractor or someone with green eyes, our groups were seeing green by the end of the event!

Our group gathered for a delicious covered dish meal followed by a special program given by Wally Steinhauser of Wingard Nursery. We learned about getting our yards ready for spring, container gardening, annuals, perennials, and much more.

Good Time Travelers
Thirty-five energetic travelers loaded the SSLC bus and five cars to head for Carter & Holmes (one of the largest orchid nurseries in the U.S.) for a tour, lunch and shopping in downtown Newberry. Afterward, they caught a matinee performance of "Say Goodnight, Gracie" at the Newberry Opera House.

Good Time Travelers
Forty-five Good Time Travelers left Lexington Sunday, September 24, for an 8 day trip to Cape Cod, with a stop in the lovely town of Hyannis where they stopped at the JFK Museum then they were off to the quaint village of Sandwich, where they saw a 17th century Grist Mill. Next they visited Martha's Vineyard and enjoyed a mouthwatering Cape Cod lobsterbake Dinner. Then they were off to the Eastham Windmill, the Cape Cod National Seashore Race Point Visitor Center, the Marconi Station area, Provincetown, and Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Ledyard, CT, before they headed to Washington D.C. for an awe-inspiring tour of our Nation's Memorials including the newly opened WWII Memorial.

SSLC Youth In Texas
After months of planning, fundraising, and bible studies 18 energetic youth and adults set off on July 12 for an adventure of a lifetime. Destination: San Antonio, TX and the National Youth Gathering. Each day they met over 36,000 Lutheran Youth in the Texas Alamodome for worship and bible study.

Senior Adult Apple Pickin' Trip
Pickin' apples can really tire you out! On Wednesday, September 27th at 9am, the St. Stephen's Express (church bus) loaded up and headed to Hendersonville, North Carolina. After an early lunch at J&S Cafeteria, they headed to Stepp's Orchard for a pickin' good time. After an exciting time in the orchard, they headed to the Dish Barn and a local produce stand and then home. |

Community-Wide Blessing of the Animals
A multitude of woofs and meows were heard Sunday, October 2 at 4pm on the lawn at St. Stephen's as members and friends gathered for The Blessing of the Animals. This service allows parents of the four-legged creatures an opportunity to give public witness to their pet's trust and to give thanks to God for His love, care and concern for all of creation. |

Our stops included a show at The Comedy Barn, Blackwood Brothers Jamboree, Louise Mandrell Show, several delicious meals, and shopping at the Outlet Malls. |

Junior High Scavenger Hunt
"Oh the places we will go"....to win a scavenger hunt that is! The 7th and 8th Grade teamed up boys vs. girls in April to scavenger for things like "a picture of your group hanging from a tree" or "a picture of your group standing in a bathtub singing 'Rubber Ducky.' A close match but the girls won by over 40 points!

The Good Time Travelers hit the road recently to journey to the Newberry Opera House and to Charleston, SC where they enjoyed shopping at The Market, lunch at Magnolia's and a Carriage ride through The Battery!
Music Day Activities
Church Organist Sylvia Looney helps our four-year-old preschool class learn about the organ, timpani, tone chimes and handbells on Music Day. The day included a musical parade throughout the halls of the educational building, with the children playing bells, sticks, and tambourines. |

Easter EGG-Stravaganza at The Macaulay's!
Oh a hunting we will go...for Easter eggs that is! The children of St. Stephen's woke up bright and early on Saturday, March 20th to go to The Macaulay's house in Lexington for a HUGE Easter Egg Hunt. Kids also enjoyed face painting, a snack, jelly bean jar guessing, crafts, and of course a visit from the Easter Bunny! It was truly an Easter EGG-Stravaganza! |

Jr. High Progressive Dinner (Mmmm Mmmm Good!)
Check out these pictures from our first Junior High event of 2005! Our group loaded up and went from house to house for a delicious meal of salad, appetizers, a Mexican fiesta, and to top it all off brownies, hot fudge, and ice cream. Talk about Mmmm Good!
