The Rev. Dr. Patrick W. Riddle (Pastor Pat)

Pastor Pat Riddle grew up in the Tidewater area of eastern Virginia in the City of Norfolk. He was an honor graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.A. in history. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership and honor society as well a Phi Alpha Theta historical honor society.

Pastor Pat graduated from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1985 and since has been active in parish ministry serving congregations in North and South Carolina. He received the call to serve as Senior Pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in August 1999. In May of 2008, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina.

Pastor Pat is married to the former Janet Holton of West Columbia and they are the proud parents of twin daughters, Savannah and Victoria. Pat is still a history buff who spends his time reading, turkey hunting, working in the yard, and driving his old blue truck and motorcycle.


The Rev. Dr. Dennis R. Bolton (Pastor Dennis)

Pastor Dennis Bolton, a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, earned a D.Min. from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA and did additional graduate study at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and Duke University, Durham, NC. He is a member of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Educators.

Dr. Bolton has served parishes throughout North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as Interim Director of Continuing Education at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. He has written for various publications such as Currents in Theology, Preaching, Biblical Preaching Journal, Lectionary Homiletics, The Word in Season and Light for Today.

Pastor Dennis is married to Angela, and they have two daughters: Jessica and Brittany. He is a Tae Kwon Do black belt, an avid reader, and loves the beach.


Lauren Ashley Garver

Lauren was born in Columbus, Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Georgia in May, 2007. She served as Area Director, Camp Lutherock, during the summer of 2007.


Beth Haggard
Preschool Director

Beth has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Education from Newberry College with graduate work in Elementary Education. She is a former high school English teacher, a Preschool Teacher at St. Stephen’s Preschool for seven years, and the Preschool Director for three years. She has worked with children from ages 2 to 18 practically all her life through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, day camps and through her chosen profession. She says the work she does at St. Stephen’s is fun and rewarding and that it is a joy to help St. Stephen's children get the educational and religious foundation they need to prepare them for their future.

Beth is married to Ralph Haggard for 16 years. She has two children: Benjamin (13) and Caroline (9), a dog named Coco, a cat named Cornbread, a hamster named Tatlo and three fish. She enjoys gardening, playing tennis, reading and traveling.



Dr. Elisa Moskovitz

Elisa Moskovitz earned her B.M.E. and M. M. degrees from Winthrop College and her D.M.A. from USC in 1989.  She taught music in Lexington School District One from 1977-2006, finishing as Choral Director at White Knoll High School. She founded the district's children's choir in 1987 and received Target 2000 grants to establish classes in Advanced Placement Music Theory, chamber music, and beginning piano at Lexington High School in 1990.  Dr. Moskovitz taught every grade level except kindergarten during her tenure at Lexington One.

In addition to her teaching career, Dr. Moskovitz has maintained an active role in Columbia's musical community as Organist/Choirmaster at St. Timothy's Episcopal and Centennial ARP Churches in Columbia, adjunct professor to the USC School of Music, and adjudicator for numerous festivals and contests. 

Dr. Moskovitz has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, accompanist, and orchestral soloist, most recently performing Liszt’s Concerto No. 1 with the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra last season.  She is pianist of The Southern Arts Trio and has appeared regularly in ensemble performances.  She was a finalist in the SCMTA competition, and twice the alternate for the SC Arts Commission Fellowship Award in music performance.  She has appeared on SC Public Radio and Peachtree State Public Radio broadcasts.  For the second consecutive season, she will be performing with violinist John Bauer at Piccolo Spoleto in June, 2008, and will be presenting solo recitals in Charleston, Barnwell, and Columbia in April and May, 2008. 

A 1992 NEH fellow for independent study in the humanities and a recipient of a research grant from the National Music Education Project (1990), Dr. Moskovitz has published articles in The American Music Teacher (1990) and The Journal of Research in Music Education (1992).  Her syllabus for AP Music Theory was solicited and published in the College Board's 1993 Teacher's Guide to AP Music Theory.


Myrtle Billings

Myrtle is a lifelong Lutheran who was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Charleston, South Carolina. She attended the College of Charleston but left after two years to pursue a career in the florist industry. She owned and operated her own florist, The Posie Peddler, in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina until her husband’s career with the Federal Aviation Administration took them to Augusta, Georgia; Sarasota, Florida; Washington, D.C. a few times, San Juan,  Puerto Rico and finally Lexington, South Carolina. She serves as parish volunteer and publications coordinator, but her duties also include, among other things, keeping the parish computer records.

Myrtle is married to Charles David Billings, Sr., has two children, Charles David Billings, Jr. and Wade Hamilton Billings, a granddaughter, Danielle and three ‘spoiled-rotten’ miniature schnauzers - Gus, Heidi and Ollie. She and her husband are former members of Congregation Council and sing in the choir. They sang with the Lexington County Choral Society for its first eight years.
